Thank you for taking the time to drop by to find out more about why I'm in politics and particularly what I stand for. As your Independent Member for Clark, I've been working closely with our community because I care deeply about the health and well-being of Tasmanians, and want a thriving Tasmanian economy.
I have demonstrated I am a strong, capable and confident person who is prepared to stand up for my community and what I believe is right. I will continue to fight for change to policies that are not appropriate and to the right services to get things done.
Like many Tasmanians, I was not born into privilege. I understand the pain of divorce, facing financial hardship, the threat of losing my home, and feeling a sense of failure when I needed Government assistance. I've also seen and experienced the stress and challenge of a partner with a life-threatening illness.
I understand the terrible impact of mental illness and family dysfunction. More needs to be done to alleviate the situation so many people find themselves in.
None of this makes me special, but it does make me real.
As a former business owner (30+ years), I have an extensive record of work in the charity, disability, and aged care sectors with a focus on good governance. I have a proven record of calling out the lack of action on issues where I believe this fails our community.
