28 May 2024 - Great news! The new after-hours clinic in Derwent Park opens on Saturday 1 June. We almost lost this after-hours service, but it was resurrected thanks to Minister Guy Barnett, Minister for Health when we highlighted just how much it is needed in Glenorchy.
Opening Hours:
Monday to Friday: 6pm-10pm
Saturday and Sunday: 9am-10pm
27 May 2024 - What’s important to you when it comes to using public loos in Glenorchy? As your candidate for Glenorchy Mayor, I want them to be safe, easily accessible, clean, and well-lit. Public loos are a personal passion! Check out this great example at the Montrose Bay Skate Park.
23 May 2024 - The Glenorchy Jobs Hub has had some great acknowledgment from the Minister for Skills and Training, Minister Felix Ellis MP, with an ongoing commitment of fully funding it through to 2026/27. Since 2021, when the Glenorchy Jobs Hub started, the program has filled more than 1250 positions.
The Glenorchy Jobs Hub benefits from the local experience of being run by the Council and is a great partnership with the State Government.
19 May 2024 - Being a Mayor is something I know about. It's hard work, but the rewards can be wonderful! It is so vital to get Glenorchy up and moving, and for the Council to be much more transparent, open, and accountable. This is one of my big priorities if I am elected Mayor.
We urgently need more independents and fewer 'robots' in Parliament.
More Independents, fewer robots in Parliament is what's needed to get things done! Hear my thoughts in this interview with Tom Connell from Sky News.
Taxpayer $$ wasted on glossy brochures
Taxpayers are unknowingly paying for glossy election brochures distributed by some candidates... WTF? (well that's frivolous)
People before politics - always!
Why I chose to use the hashtag #peoplebeforepolitics.
No dodgy deals here
There's a dodgy (and hilariously manufactured) rumour that I'll be doing a deal with the Labor party. All I can say is LOL!!!
Loyalty should never be given at all costs!
Even if your parents and grandparents voted for a major party it doesn't mean you have to as well. We need diversity and accountability more than ever before.
Minority (aka diverse) Governments work well around the world
Minority Governments have worked effectively around the world. Compromise and negotiation mean fairer and more inclusive outcomes can be delivered. When people vote for a diverse government, a true leader wouldn't just pack up their bat and ball and go home!
Calling on the Premier to stop blame-shifting
The Premier has attributed his call for an early election to me. I gave him assurances in writing that I would provide confidence and supply. If you're going to make the call then you need to own it!
Liberals’ abject failure on health, hospitals, and housing
For three years I raised the inadequacies of health services, ambulance ramping, nurse shortages, homelessness and the lack of affordable housing, and a range of other social issues, but the Premier and his Ministers either weren’t interested or didn’t care about the people affected by these problems.
Getting tough on the CAUSE of crime
Crime in our State must be addressed but it's the cause of crime that needs particular attention, not just the crime itself!
More jobs, training, and incentives needed
I want to see new jobs created AND getting people trained, retrained, PLUS incentives to encourage growth in small business.
The Poverty Cycle
After 7 years in government, the Liberals have failed to address many of our social issues. With 1 in 4 Tasmanians living in poverty, this is UNACCEPTABLE! 😡
It's time to fix our housing crisis
I'm calling for interest-free government loans to support the construction of social and affordable housing. Over 3800 people and families are desperately waiting for a safe and secure place to call home. (
I want Tasmania's health system to be taken seriously.
Does it seem the Government commits money to the health system when there's an election? I call BS to this approach!
Tattslotto to pay for health???
Press conference on Parliament lawns where Sue Hickey, Independent Member for Clark talks about health.
We must have a better health system NOW!
Health needs to be a higher priority.
This is simply NOT good enough!
